Wow, this has been a LONG time coming. We realized this weekend that we first saw the house almost TWO years ago next month. I remember it as clearly as if it was yesterday. I remember exactly where I was standing in the front yard when I looked at Chad and said "Well, wouldn't this be crazy?"
This weekend, seeing the house with drywall up, was by far the most excited about it that I've been in MONTHS. In fact, maybe the most excited since we first saw the architect's plans.
I walked in and I really saw my home. I saw the desk area where I'll spend time editing, the island wall where the kids and I will sit watching Chad cooking, the playroom with a window sill deep enough to sit and nooks and cranny's that will house giggles galore, a master suite with a soaking tub for after my long runs, bedrooms and a bath just for the kids, a guest suite, and finally my beautiful studio.
It was the studio that brought my to tears. Looking at that beautiful space and imagining filling it with clients and my own family to photograph was just overwhelming. I could finally see my dream again.
The next several weeks are going to be so hard, but with love and a lot of helping hands, I can already feel it becoming a home.

The "cubby" in the middle of the picture will be book shelves and there will be a hanging "nest" for the kids to hang out. You can see through to the kitchen on the left.
