An Alaskan in Delaware| Lindsey Mix Newborn Photography

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when my husband's cousin, Megan, reached out to me and asked if I'd take their newborn pictures. She went on to tell me that they'd be coming to the east coast, just over the Delaware border in PA to deliver baby #2. They live on a tiny little island in Alaska and wanted to be with Megan's mom when the baby arrived!

After an adventurous delivery at home, Megan called me to tell me her adorable baby boy, Zephyr, was ready for his pictures.

I walked into the clubhouse and the family just radiated calmness. They had a very quiet demeanor that seemed to match their Alaskan lifestyle. Even their 2.5 year old spoke softly and just quietly took it all in.  Akaran May 2014Baby Zephyr and his beautiful familyAlaska meets Pennsylvania!

Daddy started giving his baby boy kisses as I was changing my settings so I said "Oh that's great! Can you give him more Eskimo kisses?" Suddenly, I was faced with a horrific fear that I had just said something offensive! Thankfully, Megan assured me that rubbing noses could indeed be referred to as Eskimo kisses.

Its such an incredible privilege to share in those first few days with a family and their new baby. I'm so, so, lucky! What an incredible job to have!
